This is the second post on our blog. Big stuff to update everyone since our first and last post.
We got our tickets purchased for the trip, but Lewis is still fairly clueless about the flights, destinations, dates/times...things like that. He has left this all pretty much up to Jenae. She has been great at it. We are just trusting in God that everything works out 'cause we got no shot at making it work right. We leave December 1st and return home the evening of December 9th.
SHOTS - Who knew that we would end up with five (5) immunizations for this trip. Went to the health department Wednesday for three (I thought), but came away with two extra freebies. Ouch - felt that till the earthquakes started on Saturday! Still have to get the malaria prophylaxis (someone spelled that for me) PILLS, but we got time for that yet.
Big fun this weekend has been the earthquake(s). A 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook the shack at 10:52 pm Saturday night with the epicenter about 20 miles from our house. this came after a 4.7 magnitude earthquake felt throughout Oklahoma and into four states at 2:12 am Saturday. We felt both and many of the 30-40 aftershocks since then. Very interesting these earthquakes. You think an explosion just happened and then the whole room starts shaking, things fall off the wall - glass breaks, then this roar passes by and continues on off into the distance. Our beagle, Daisy is quite the pre-earthquake alarm. She starts barking her head off moments before the boom...my guess is she hears it. Our nerves are pretty rattled, but all in all okay so far. Better than a couple of our neighbors as they suffered substantial chimney damage in the quake(s).
Oh my word, the Baughman's are Skype-ing. Momma bear cannot be in Africa without being able to see her cubs so we got our laptops set up to Skype to each other. Hannah and Lewis have been working out the kinks between the kitchen and the back bedroom. Next they will try to connect from across the street.
All for now peeps.
